We are now open for submissions to our special seasonal magazine. We would love to read your Christmas/ New Year/ Winter inspired poetry, flash fiction, art and photography.
The deadline for submissions is midnight 5th December. Due to a shorter deadline, we are allowing you to send up to four pieces to the magazine. Please only send previously unpublished pieces which are NOT under consideration elsewhere. You can send a mixture of poetry, flash, art and photography as long as you state the genres in your email. (Poetry- max 50 lines/ Flash Fiction- max 200 words- these do not include line breaks or titles)
Please attach your poetry and flash fiction pieces (without traces of your name) in a Word Document. Please attach high quality art or photography images, with titles and medium for each piece. Also include two lines about each piece of art/photography to be included alongside the image if selected.
Include an author/ artist image of yourself and three line third person biography in the body of the email. Title the email (XMAS- your NAME- GENRE). email to thebangorliteraryjournal@hotmail.com
We are delighted to announce that we have a special guest Poetry Editor for this magazine. The wonderful Belfast poet Gaynor Kane, winner of the 2019 Bangor Poetry Competition, shall be selecting 15 pieces of poetry for the magazine from all the poems submitted. We are truly excited that Gaynor shall be taking charge of your all wonderful seasonal poems. Gaynor’s debut pamphlet ‘Circling the Sun ‘ can be downloaded here on the Hedgehog Poetry Press site. Her full length chapbook ‘Memory Forest’ will be launched soon (Hedgehog Poetry Press), so make sure you follow Gaynor on social media and keep up to date on her website. She is a rising star on the Northern Irish Poetry scene!
